With the transformation to a Charter-form of county government, in 2011 the Cuyahoga County Department of Public Safety and Justice Services was established. The Department encompasses all divisions that previously existed under the County’s former Department of Justice Affairs.   In addition to descriptions of the Department’s various operations, programs and services, on this website you will also find information about emergency preparedness, trainings, citizen volunteers, current publications, grant announcements, public safety communications updates, and other valuable resources.


FY2021 State Homeland Security Program (SHSP) and State Homeland Security Grant - Law Enforcement (SHSP-LE)

OH EMA notified Public Safety & Justice Services (PSJS) that our Region’s FY2021 SHSP and SHSP-LE projects are due at the end of August. These projects will shape Ohio’s FY2021 HSGP Application to FEMA. In order to meet Ohio EMA’s deadline, we've put together the following timeline:

Cuyahoga County Agencies:
  • Project applications due to CCESAB Committee Chairs via email, with a copy to PSJS by noon Friday, 7/23/21.
  • Request Committee Meetings take place 7/26/21 - 8/5/21
  • Committee Chairs to submit prioritized applications to PSJS by noon on Friday, 8/6/21
  • CCESAB will meet to prioritize Cuyahoga County projects at the regularly scheduled meeting at 2:00 P.M. on 8/12/21 at the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District.
Cuyahoga County agencies seeking to submit a project application, must have their project reviewed and approved by the appropriate committee of the Cuyahoga County Emergency Services Advisory Board (CCESAB) at a called meeting* of the committee prior to the application due date. Cuyahoga projects will only be accepted by PSJS from committee chairs.

All Other Agencies:
  • Project applications must be submitted via email to PSJS by noon, Friday 8/12/21.
