Tactical EMS Program

Cuyahoga County EMA will be hosting a Tactical EMS program starting on February 27 and concluding on March 2nd, 2012.  This program is available to all functioning Tactical EMS providers in Cuyahoga County.   We have 24 openings for Cuyahoga County Tactical EMS providers that include the cost of the program and up to 25 hours of backfill or overtime.  Once these openings are filled, the cost of the program will be the attendee’s responsibility and no backfill or overtime will be afforded.  The Cuyahoga County EMA will be using the current list of Tactical EMS providers for Cuyahoga County to determine eligibility for the course fee and backfill or overtime, eligible attendees.

Please be advised that this is a physically and mentally demanding program with long hours the first three days (see information below).

NOTE: This TEMS class is an intense course with very long hours and a challenging curriculum. This training also requires strenuous physical activity, especially during the field training exercises. Applicants who are not in excellent physical condition and who do not participate in a regular physical conditioning program should seek the approval of their physician before participating. Easier courses are provided by other companies, but no course is as complete. This is the finest course available, but you must be prepared. REQUIREMENTS

1. Current knowledge and previous experience as a medical provider. Certification at the EMT-Basic level (or higher) for civilians is recommended. Previous combat medical experience in the military may be acceptable on an individual basis.

2. Employed by a Public Safety agency (EMS, Police, or Fire), military, or a division of the Department of Homeland Security. Applicants must provide proof of employment on company letterhead.

3. ALL applicants must also provide proof of law-enforcement agency affiliation on agency letterhead. Law enforcement agency “endorsement” of students is required for non-law enforcement-sworn students.

TO BE CONSIDERED, PLEASE FAX ALL OF THE ABOVE TO LARRY TAFE @ 216.4435773
