November 4, 2016 – 8:00 am – 5:00 pm


This eight-hour performance-level course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills to use intermediate social media tools and techniques for situational awareness during an emergency.


Participants will learn and use tools such as mapping applications, data analysis, and data mining for research and management.


The course will supplement and build upon NDPTC’s existing FEMA-certified performance-level course, PER-304 Social Media for Natural Disaster Response and Recovery, by providing more in-depth training in the use of social media for disaster management operations.

This course is targeted for a broad cross section of individuals and professionals interested and involved in emergency management, planners, as well as communication and public information personnel. 

 

Participant Requirements:
1- Participants must have taken and completed the NDPTC PER-304 Social Media for Natural Disaster Response and Recovery course in order to be eligible to attend either the Social Media Tools and Techniques OR Social Media Engagements courses (This requirement must be fulfilled in order for participants to be eligible to attend both the Social Media Tools and Social Media Engagement courses).

2- Participants must bring a wi-fi enabled device (laptop preferred).
3- Participants must have both a Facebook and Twitter account.
4- Participants must be able to post test messages to these accounts.
